GREECE, the country, where the life twists with the rhythm of sirtaki! PDF Spausdinti

Atgal  Nuotrauka 1/79  Pirmyn

The third meeting of multilateral Comenius project “What We Need is Europe: United in Diversity” took place in 2014, October 5-10, in Ioannina (Greece). It was attended by our school headmaster Alvydas Zdanys, deputy headmaster Lina Juknelienė and English teacher Sigita Grinkutė. The purpose of the meeting was to overview and discuss the activities that were carried out during the first year of the project. And discuss the further steps that need to be taken.
We departed from Vilnius airport on the 5th of October and were warmly welcomed by school teachers Athena Oikonomou, Kostas Bovilis and others in Janina city.
Next day we were introduced to educational system in Greece and opportunities for a young person to choose the path of life. We also assessed the students’ learning conditions, educational environment. There are 170 students (15-18 years old) in Janina’s second high school. Students learn not only modern Greek language, literature, geography, history, but also ancient Greek language.
We visited the department of education where our group heard the report about regions’ actions according to the violence and bullying prevention program, later we analyzed the goals of Erasmus Plus Programme. We also met Janina’s mayor M. Kolok Pantel.
Sightseeing tours were organized for project partners where we got acquainted with the history of Greece, felt the deep traditions and values of this amazing country. Greece is undoubtedly one of the most interesting countries in Europe. South temperament, pleasant climate and historical treasures in abundance - this is a country where life revolves with the rhythm of sirtaki.
By the way, the Greeks are also famous for their national cuisine, so we were able to have a taste of snacks, wheat bread, olives and, of course, Greek salad.
Even though we spent only five days in Greece, the impressions would last forever.
